An update on both cup competitions. The quarter finals of the knockout cup took place last weekend. Two of the ties finished 6-6 so they will be replayed this coming weekend (15th January). Results and updated draw can be viewed here.
The 8th round of games in the league cup also took place at the weekend. Updated results and groups can be viewed here.
Four teams in contention with only two points separating them all, although Ste Matthews and Martin Grierson may have the upper hand with an extra game to play over Christopher Grierson and Debra Haigh.
Paul Murphy is the only player with a 100% record and is already through. Neil Metcalf has a 4 point cushion over Allan Jones but Allan has a game in hand – they play each other final game, but Allan has to beat Paul to keep his hopes alive.
Another tight group with just two points separating 4 players. Stuart Davies in the driving seat but he could be ousted if beaten by John Roberts. Michael Grierson only has 1 game to play while Paul Barlow has two.
Just three players still in contention here – Dave Nicholls and Andrew Carter sit on 13 points but have just 1 game left – Ross Milton sits 2 points behind with a game in hand.
Peter Carroll has already qualified. Peter Wooldridge sits in 2nd, with Lee Abbott 2 points behind but a game less to play. Lee needs Peter W to not win his next game to give him a chance in the final round of games.
David Hayhoe has already qualified. Matthew Saveall sits in 2nd on 10 points, with Tony Raybould a point behind and two games to play. Steve Smith still has a slight chance a further point behind but needs Matthew and Tony to lose their remaining games.
Paul Maiden has already qualified. Daniel Pickering sits in 2nd on 8 points, with Shaun McGee on 5 points – they play each other in the final round of games, with Shaun needing to win by 5 points to scrape in ahead of Daniel.
David Weston and Trevor Faulkner have already qualified and David can’t be caught by Trevor, so this group is the only group that has nothing left to play for!
